Early intervention professionals are committed and busy people. It can be hard to make time to meet with other professionals. But...we all need to feel supported in our work and to identify ourselves as part of learning community. What do we love about our work, and where do we find some of the challenges? How can we get to know each other better outside of the context of IFSP teams so we can truly build those relationships with each other? Here in Mecklenburg County, we get together on the third Wednesday of each month to provide opportunities to talk about a variety of important topics in early intervention. Our facilitators include one of our network providers and a CDSA staff member, and Infant-Toddler Credit will be provided. So...bring your lunch, grab a chair, and let's talk! Oh....and we do provide dessert....
Modern NICUs have dramatically improved the outlook for tiny premature infants, but until relatively recently their parents and families have been largely excluded from their care. Long-term studies on the psychological, emotional, social and other functional outcomes of these survivors are now showing the benefits of early, extensive family involvement.
